How can I correct a filed 1099?

I stupidly put the recipient's TIN in both the payer and recipient sections of a 1099 that I issued to a contractor that has already been accepted by the IRS. I had the contractor file with my TIN, but I need to change that. According to the IRS documentation here that I have already read, these are the instructions www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1099gi.pdf

How to report incorrect payer name and/or TIN.
If a payer discovers an error in reporting the payer (not recipient) name and/or TIN, write a letter containing the following information.
1. Name and address of the payer.
2. Type of error (including the incorrect payer name/TIN that was reported).
3. Tax year.
4. Payer TIN.
5. Transmitter Control Code (TCC).
6. Type of return.
7. Number of payees.
8. Filing method (paper or electronic).
9. Was federal income tax withheld?

I read this FAQ: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/account-management/transmitter-control-code/00/768384 and it suggests that I only need to call to get the TCC. I was never asked to provide a TCC and I don't have one when I filed the form through https://quickemployerforms.intuit.com/. This is extremely frustrating as I have everything to correct the form except for the TCC. I don't have a TCC and I never saw one from Intuit's end. Please help assist with this- I really need to correct this and I have done everything in my ability and I'm at a dead end. What can I do to fix this? I've been calling TurboTax for over an hour and gotten absolutely nowhere.

Hello,

I'm exactly in the same situation. I was wondering if you were able to find a way to get TCC? Or did you submit the paper without it? Any help would be super appreciated.

Thank you.

You can create and correct the Forms 1099 by hand or .pdf then mail them to the IRS. The links to the forms are here for your convenience and Form 1096 provides the mailing address.  Be sure to send new copies to your contractors as well.

Be sure to mark the corrected box at the top of each Form 1099.

Thank you and appreciate your input.

I am not accountant, could you please comment on IRS Pub. Accordingly, if Payer info needs to be updated, it is asking to send a letter with bunch of info including TCC(Transmitter Control Code), I have everything except TCC.  I just don't want to make more issue out of this by sending wrong forms.

I need to update Payer's TIN.

Thank you.

If you paper-filed (mailed the forms in) you won't have nor need a Transmitter Control Code.

If you had filed electronically you would have gotten a number code.

Thank you for the answer.

The main question, where to find the code you referring.

I filed on quickemployerforms.intuit.com/,

Did you log into your "quick employer forms" account to see if it is listed there?

You might try calling the IRS directly to see if they can help you.

Has anyone found the answer to what TCC to provide for corrections to 1099-NEC filed using employer forms on turbotax?
