I’m trying to amend my return (which was rejected because I’m cannot e-file). I wanted to change my occupation and re-print but it’s getting stuck at the complete check stage and never finishes. I tried the chat bot and ask for an agent but there is a callback option only for US phone numbers and I live abroad. How do I contact a human?
"Occupation" is used only for statistical purposes. It is not used for anything that would affect your tax due or refund, and it is not the reason for your e-file rejection. If you just really want to change it anyway, go to My Info to change it.
You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.
Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed. Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead. What is the rejection code or rejection message?
If it was rejected for AGI—-your 2022 AGI might not be in the IRS system if you filed late. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

Thanks. It was rejected because my spouse doesn’t have a SSN. I understand that you’ve to do this my mail based on some previous answers here. I just wanted to correct the occupation since I have to mail it anyways. When I tried to amend it, it started hanging on the final check step
