If you want to delete your return, you can delete all of the data if you like. The account will remain active and you can access it any time you wish, but you can't really delete the account itself.

An easy way might be to clear and start over, in TurboTax as long as you haven't submitted a payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered. To clear your return and start over, please follow these steps below:

  • Sign in to TurboTax (if you're not already signed in).
  • Click on the Take me to my return button (if you're using the Online version).
  • Select Tax Tools, and Tools then, select Clear & Start Over (click or tap the 3 lines in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).
  • Then, answer Yes (in the pop-up to confirm). See image below.

In TurboTax Online, you can erase your return as long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered.

  1. If you haven't already done so, sign in at TurboTax.com and select the blue Take me to my return button.
  2. On the welcome back screen, in the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, and then select Clear & Start Over (click or tap the 3 lines in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).
  3. Answer Yes in the pop-up to confirm.
