We'd love to help you complete your tax return but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?

  • Log into your account, and at the Tax Home or in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents" for 2023, look for a link "Add a State."
  • Click on "Add a State."  (That doesn't really add one; that's just to open the return.)
  • Once the return is open, if needed you can make any changes in your return you need to, since it has not been filed.
  • When finished making your changes, go through the REVIEW section to be sure everything is in order.
  • Then go to the FILE section,  choose your filing method, and continue answering the screens there.
  • If efiling (recommended), be sure to go all the way to the final screen and click a big orange button "Transmit Returns Now."

federal identification number for office of Personnel Management Retirement Operations should have been 52-6083699 and it shows something now even close.  I can not see where there is a fix it now in order to refile

There is only one place in turbotax to enter my payer id.  It is my social security number and it is correct.  What do I do?

The error message indicates an error in a 1099-R entry for a retirement distribution.  You could delete your entry and re-enter.  Your SSN is the Recipient's TIN, which should automatically be filled in for you.
