Hi, why my year 2016 tax return form (145 pages) has much more pages than the year 2015 (30 pages)?

During the tax year you have 2 ways to save the return PDF ... one is just the return that was filed and the other is the return + all the TT worksheets that are not sent that are just for your records.

If you go to save a PDF of a prior year return now the longer file is all you can get. This is why you should always save a PDF both ways right after your returns are filed and accepted.

So can I still get the first version of PDF now?

Nope ... all you can get is the longer file ... if you only need to print the return you must use your PDF reader to print the required pages.

About 4 years ago they changed from only getting the return PDF (because users complained they couldn't see the worksheets) to the longer file ... and now users complain that they don't want all the worksheets ... can't please everyone.

hmm, why not allow users save the return PDF and TT worksheets in seperated PDF files.

You can but you have to do it timely ... after the end of the tax year the returns are archived and they only archive one PDF style because    TT archives millions of returns requiring a lot of server space.  I am glad they at least keep the larger PDF now  ... 4 years ago you were stuck with the smaller PDF only.... better to have more and need less than the other way around.
