As a US citizen living abroad, my 2024 income is only US based (W2 and 401K retirement distribution), I have 3 Kids (US citizen), when I file 2024 tax return, can I use standard deduction and benefit from child tax credit?, basically filing like a US citizen living in US? thank you for you precious help
Where you live in the world has no affect on your federal tax return for the standard deduction or claiming a dependent on the tax return. Nor does it affect what credits you may be eligible for on the tax return.
You complete and file your federal tax return as you normally would.
@abdels2001 You are correct there is no state tax return to file since Texas does not have a personal income tax.

Thank you So much for your quick reply and clarification,
I understand well now, however I used to live in Texas which doesn't have State income tax, my W2 I will receive for 2024 is from the couple of months I worked when in Texas, so my understanding is that no state tax is needed, please let me know if I am correct, I mean when you leave abroad no state income tax needs to be filed.
Thank you again for your precious help
