There is a rule that says IF somebody else CAN claim you as a dependent, yo uare not allowed to claim yourself. If you have sufficient income (usually more than $12,000), you can & should still file taxes. In TurboTax, you indicate that somebody else can claim you as a dependent, at the personal information section.
In the past, we would say you just doesn’t get your own $4150 exemption (deduction). But, beginning in 2018, personal (and dependent) exemptions have been eliminated. So, for you, your tax refund (or tax bill) is the same whether you are someone's dependent or not (if your only income is from working).
