Hi, I filed my 2023 tax by turbotax software instead of doing that by turbotax website. After my file got rejected I still don't know if I can edit my mistakes?

My online turbotax profile wants me to do 2023 tax all again from beginning but I did it on turbotax software and got rejected. I need to modify it. Do I have to do it all again from beginning?

If you used the TurboTax desktop software for tax year 2023 then you should have the tax data file, which has a file extension of .tax2023, on your computer.  The tax data file and any saved PDF's are stored, by default,  in the TurboTax folder within the Documents directory.

When you start the 2023 TurboTax desktop software you should see your 2023 tax return listed along with a Continue button.  Continue the 2023 return and correct any errors.

If the program does not show you the 2023 tax return, then you will need to browse to the location where the tax data file was saved so that you can open the tax return.

You will have to print, sign, date and mail the federal tax return to the IRS and the state return, if any, to the state tax authority.  The address for the federal return and for the state tax return are different.  Include with the mailed tax returns a copy of any W-2's and Form 1099's which have taxes withheld on the forms.

Go to this IRS website for where to mail the 2023 federal tax return, by state, with and without a tax payment - https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment

Also, the Filing Instructions for each tax return will have the address on where to mail the returns.
