Hi. Form 6252. How can I change line number 4 from No to Yes?

If you are using TurboTax for Desktop, you can manually change the answer to Form 6252 Line 4 using Forms Mode.

1. Click the Forms icon in the TurboTax header.
2. Find the Form 6252 that you need to work on.
3. Click the form name to open it in the large window.
4. Scroll down to Line 4 and check the correct response (yes or no).
5. Check to be sure there is no red exclamation mark beside the form in the left column.
6. Click Step-by-Step in the header to return to the main screens.

 

If you're using TurboTax Online, the easiest way to change this answer is to run Smart Check. TurboTax will present any form with missing information, including Form 6252. 

 

Otherwise, return to the income section where the installment sale was first entered and work through the interview to change your answers. This could be Sale of Business Property, Less Common Income >> Installment Sales, or a Rental Property sale.
