Hi! do you pay for Turbo Tax Premiere upfront or only when you complete the forms and file it?

If you are using the online version of TurboTax, you pay for the program when you are ready to file your return.  You can prepare your return using TurboTax Online by clicking here

With the CD/Download versions of TurboTax you pay for the program up front.  You can purchase it in many retail locations or you can download it by clicking on this link: TurboTax CD/Download

It’s mostly personal preference as to whether you prefer the increased functionality of the desktop program (such as Forms Mode) or if you prefer the convenience of the online (i.e being able to work on your return anywhere and having TurboTax store your files). 

If you are going to prepare more than one return (for your children, for example) you should purchase the desktop version, so you won’t be charged for each return.  Also, all the desktop versions contain the same forms.  The difference is the amount of guidance.

With TurboTax Online, you can start with the Basic edition, and if your return requires additional forms you can upgrade right in your return.
