Hello, My 16 year old mowed lawns last summer and also at a local entertainment park during halloween. He received a w-2 from the theme park, Can I file his taxes

We live in Texas and I've already filed my taxes before receiving or  realizing he was going to receive a w-2.

If his total income was more than $6300, he is required to file his own tax return to report it. If it was less than that, he is not required to file a return but can file to get a refund if federal income tax was withheld. If he files a return, he must indicate on the return that he can be claimed by someone else.

Thank you for the info...He made less than $1000 total but still wants to file, he's excited to see if he'll get anything back lol

If he had federal income tax withheld in box 2 of the W-2, he will get it back as a refund.

One more question, so I need to create him his own account as a new customer then is that right?

Actually since he has a simple return you should have him fill out the forms by hand manually for a learning experience.  And maybe do it online too for a double check.

He probably can use the 1040EZ return.  Here are some blank forms & instructions for the current year

Online is only good for 1 return.  But you can use the same email address for 5 accounts.   How to start another return in the Online version      https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3288574

wonderful, that's so helpful...I'm glad, I was afraid I had to use his own email address which of course is never accessed or viewed regularly. Thank you both again for all of your help :))
