Health Contribution W-2 - Turbo Tax says I can't e-file ?

Was just finishing up my taxes using TurboTax but it says I can't e-file because of my W-2. I am receiving pension and the only W-2 I have is for a $500 contribution from my former employer for my health savings account. Can someone explain to me why I can't e-file just because there is no amount in Box 1 on the W-2 ?

Also, would it be illegal to just put $2 in Box 1 so I can e-file ?

Thank you

It's not illegal to add a number to box 1 (why should the IRS complain that you are paying tax that you don't owe?), but does create the small chance that you may get a letter from the IRS asking why. If that happens, don't worry about it - just tell them this was a workaround for the tax software.

Thank you. Do you have any idea of why the IRS does this?  Reading online it says I have to file thru the mail if I have no taxable income (Box 1), but I do have taxable income in the form of a pension which is a 1099-R.  It's just a pain.
