Having probelm e-filing state tax again after having filed Federal e-file and mistakingly CA State tax print

I did my taxes on Turbotax in April and, thinking that I had e-filed both Federal and State.  Federal was approved shortly but unfortunately I now realize that the State was somehow done as Amended and to be printed. My first attempt to do my taxes by myself. Ooops!

I called the State and was told as I have not mailed and they have no record of it I can redo and resubmit as e-file.

To do that I had to start all over again on a second account with Federal and then State. Once finished ready to submit I was told that I had already filed and could not do it again.

I need to your help to see how I can only transmit the State return as the Federal has already been refunded and done with.

Thank you.

OK ... mistake #1 ... not efiling the state at the same time as the federal.

Mistake #2 ... choosing the amendment option to open the return when trying to efile the state ... since the original return was not efiled the incorrect amendment will not efile ... good thing this rule is in place.

Correction to prior errors ...  simply remove the amendment form.

How do I cancel or undo an amended return in TurboTax Online?

If you started amending your tax return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment:

  1. Open your return if it’s not already open.
  2. In the left menu select Cancel amend.
  3. Select Yes, I want to cancel my amended return.

How do I cancel or undo an amended return in the TurboTax CD/Download software?

If you started amending your federal return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment, follow this process to correctly "unamend" your federal return:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Switch to Forms Mode (Windows instructions | Mac instructions).
  3. In the left pane, select Form 1040X.
    • Windows: After the form is generated in the right pane, click the Delete Form button at the bottom of the window.
    • Mac: From the Forms menu, select Remove Form 1040X.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the 1040X from your return

  1. Important: Go back through the TurboTax interview and undo any changes you made after you selected the option to amend your  return, as merely deleting the 1040X will not undo those manual entries for you.

State Amendments

The best way to "unamend" your state return is to go through your state return from the beginning and keep your eyes peeled for amend-related screens or questions.

The amend question usually appears right at the beginning or towards the end of the state interview (never in the middle).

Correct any entries that have to do with an amended return, e.g.:

  • Answer No when asked if you want to amend;
  • Clear any amend-related checkboxes;
  • Delete entries in the tax year field.
  • Note: In a few state programs, you actually have to answer Yes to the amend question so you can revisit the screens that contain the information you want to delete.

If you still can't get rid of your state amendment form, try clearing your state return and starting over.

Thank you for your assistance.

1.  Should I totally disregard the second account I created and go back to the original to un-amend?

2.  Would that un-amended version directly be transmitted as e-file as did the Federal?

3.   Because when I redid on second account Federal and State Taxes and e-filed, the answer was that I could not submit as I had already filed my taxes, despite the fact that the State taxes were never transmitted.

3.  My taxes are very very simple as I was out of work 11 months of the year due to sickness.

I am vey new to do taxes by myself.

I would appreciate if you can guide me more.

Thank you.

Right, ignore the second new account.  You can only efile state from the same account you efiled federal from.   #2, yes you can efile state after you cancel the amended one and put it back to the original state return.
