has anyone run into this? my daughter is just over a year old we had her jan of 2024 i put in her social number and the software says shes not a dependant??

it says she paid over half her living expenses and shes 13 months in feb. what do i do? did someone get her social security number? i do not travel with it and its kept in a lock box at home.

You answered one of the questions wrong.  (Turbotax does not and can not pull information from other tax returns, even if she was wrongly used, so it is something you did.)

 

Try deleting her info and enter her again as a dependent, read the questions carefully.

Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number.    Careful— do not say that your child’s SSN is not valid for employment.  If your child was born in 2024 make sure you said he lived with you the whole year.  There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support.  Say NO to that question.

No, no one has her social security number. The IRS does not have access to any information you enter in TurboTax and TurboTax does not have any access to any information in the IRS computers. You may have made a bad entry in the program somewhere. Most likely you said she lived with you for less than a year. Since she was born in 2024, you should say she lived with you for the whole year. Just go back and review her personal information you entered.
