Has anyone else notice that the 2021 Turbo Tax software did not rollover (or import) a Federal Income Tax overpayment that should have applied to a 2021 tax return?

The State overpayment from 2020 did get imported but the Federal 2020 overpayment did not import to 2021.

I used TurboTax CD\Download and no, I did not have your experience. When I started my tax return, the 2020 federal refund was transferred to my 2021 income tax return. The refund was reflected in my refund meter when I started my 2021 return.

If you didn't transfer your 2020 return over, you can manually enter the amount by doing this:

  1. Open (continue) your return, if you don't already have it open.
  2. Search for refund applied to this year and select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Scroll down to the 2020 Refund Applied to 2021 section.
  4. Select Start next to the appropriate category (federal, state, or local) and follow the instructions.
