Hal_Al you are full of[Edit]. On that screen now and NOWHERE does it state "if your child was away at college count the number of months away as living with you". URwrong

Right - but you must click on that link to open that window. Most people would just rifle through and answer the question based on actual months living in the house. I’m just saying you would think the software could pick up on this based on answers to relationship, age and being a student.

NO--he is correct.  The months living away at college are a "temporary absence" and you can say the dependent lived with you.

I know that is the correct answer. I am saying that the software does not lead you to this - you must know it on your own and that screen does not give you details unless you specifically click on the link for more details.

It is always a good idea to click on the links for extra help as you go.  That is why they are there.
