Had 3 different jobs. How do I file?

I went from being a freelancer to a fulltime employee and then was laid off. How do I file my taxes when I should be getting a 1099 and a w-2, but now have no income?

ALL of the income you received in 2021 goes on the same tax return---including the self-employment income, any W-2's and any unemployment received in 2021.

If you are using online TurboTax you need Self-Employed.   Or you can use any version of the CD/download in order to prepare the Schedule C you need for self-employment and business expenses.

or....

Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free.  There are 8  free software versions available from the IRS Free File site

Generally, you would use TurboTax Self-Employed (online) or TurboTax Home & Business (CD/desktop).

If you had expenses to apply to your "business" (when you were working freelance), it is difficult to enter expenses in the other editions.of TurboTax.

As xmasbaby0 notes, you can file a W-2 and a Schedule C (your freelance work) all on the same return.
