Getting error because Form 1099B has Box 12 number that is higher then Box 1A

My form from Fidelity has Exempt Interest Dividends in Box 12 that is higher than Total Ordinary Dividends in Box 1A. This situation is a norm but turbotax is asking me to change Box 1a to a number higher than the Exempt Interest Dividends or change the Box 12 number to the same or less than Box 1A. Help!!!

@ajaybuti

You are working with the 2022 version of TTX aren't you?  (higher numbered boxes may be different for other years)....But for 2022:

It's actually a 1099-DIV form  (perhaps inside a consolidated 1099-B)

I've tried it several ways with the most recent software update installed, and I don't get that error.....even when I set box 1a to either blank a zero

Box 1b must be lower than (or equal to) box 1a.  So check that first.

(Box 13 cannot be higher than box 12 either)

But box 1a being lower than 12 shouldn't be a problem.

or try the following:

1)  Delete that 1099-DIV form and re-enter it manually. Don't import it.

2)   Don't enter any zero values in any boxes, and make sure you are putting the $$ in the correct box....sometimes folks confuse whether a value goes in the box above, or the box below the software label...i.e look at the box/label layout carefully before entering a number.

___________

Other possible entry errors?:  on a page following the main form, there is one checkbox for indicating a portion is from US Govt bonds.   That value refers only to the box 1a $$, so that value cannot be greater than box 1a and has nothing to do with box 12.
