is it possible to upload my prior years' tax data to the free "govt" side of Turbotax for the current year.
if so, i dont see where to upload it at?
this is the free version i am talking about. if we ahve a small business with schedule C. are we better off to buy the "home and business".. not sure the free side has all the bells and whistles.
You might try first starting in regular Turbo Tax Self Employed version and transfer into that. You don't have to pay for online. Then go to the Free File website and sign into your account at the top right and see if it lets you switch and continue without starting over. Give it a try and let me know if it works.
Oh do you need to know how to transfer from your computer into the Online version? If you used the Desktop program last year here’s How to transfer into the Online version, expand the blue link if you used the CD/download last year........
But if you used the Desktop Home & Business program before you may not like the online versions. I would get Home & Business again.
yes, i used home and business desktop last year. i got a pretty good deal on a download last year. i havent been able to find such a good deal this year. So there is an online version of home and business ? i didnt know that. I for sure need atleast home and business. i thought there was just the free version of turbotax that was provided as part of the IRS program.
The Turbo Tax Online version is called Self Employed version. By the way, in the Desktop program you can use any version. All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.
So you could try buying Deluxe. If you buy Deluxe there are 2 kinds. Deluxe with a free state program and Deluxe without state. So check the box or description. It should say Fed+Efile+State. Look around at Costco, Walmart, Target, Staples, etc. or online at Amazon, etc. You can probably find sales.
