Form 568

The software thinks I need form 568 but I don't know why and cannot answer the questions since I do not have an LLC. How do I eliminate this problem?

TurboTax will ask about California Form 568 if you have an EIN number for your business.

  1. Type self-employment income in Search
  2. Select Jump to self-employment income
  3. On Your 2021 self-employed work summary, tap Review
  4. Tap Edit next to General info
  5. Under Payments and identification, edit Employer ID Number (EIN) and select No if you don’t have an EIN number

I have the same problem as the original poster and I have no ein checked. So it knows I have no EIN but still forces me to use form 568.

TurboTax will complete Form 568 under the California State section. You should be able to eliminate this form as follows:

  1. Open your return and click on State Taxes.
  2. On the California Taxes page, click Edit beside Income and adjustments.
  3. Under Business, click Start/Revisit beside Business Profit or Loss Adjustment.
  4. Click Edit beside the business that's creating Form 568.
  5. Click "NO" that this business was not owned by a Single Member LLC.
  6. If necessary, delete Form 568 from your forms list.
