Form 1040 says 0 so I cannot electronically file however I have reviewed multiple times and I definitely input the correct value. What is the easiest way to access 1040?

Where do I easily locate and edit form 1040 specifically within TurboTax? As states in my question I have reviewed several times and my income and questions are answered correctly. Can someone please advise?

Are you saying that you have zero income? If so, you can't e-file if you have no income. If social security is your only income, it is not taxable, so the same is true.

That is not what I am saying.

I entered my income based on all the questions asked. I live abroad and pay tax abroad so all of my income is excluded as I fall below the limit above which taxes are due on my foreign income.

However, when going to file and review despite inputting my income in dollar terms it says that the value cannot be zero and therein lies the issue. As mentioned here, in the details and in my question I input the dollar value correctly. This is an error with TurboTax not my input.

TurboTax literally suggests that I edit form 1040 but I have no idea how to retrieve and editable version of form 1040 within the platform which I have already paid for at this point. I have revisited every question 10x over at this point.

Simply put, how do I edit form 1040 specifically within TurboTax?

Your income would be $0 if your only income was foreign income are you were able to exclude 100% of it under the foreign earned income exclusion.

You can’t e-file with $0 income. You can either file by mail or make an adjustment so you are showing $1 of income.

One way to do this is to change Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion to you have $1.

  1. Type foreign income in Search in the top right
  2. Select Jump to foreign income and go through the questions again

I've literally done this 20 times and over the last week and does not work. Also your suggestion is to change my foreign excluded income to 1$?

Also, I did this with my ex-pat co-worker at the exact same time with the same salary and he was able to e-file. We both have the same salary and the same conditions i.e. single filing.

This is clearly an error with TurboTax.

Go to another area such as interest income and add $1 income.

  • Go to federal>wages and income>
  • Interest income>1099 INT
  • Make sure when asks you to import your information, indicate you will change how you enter the form.
  • The next screen indicate you will type it in yourself
  • Then enter any banking institution and put $1 in interest income.
  • Let us know if this works after you efile.
