For my online taxes the control number from my w-2 won't work to file online, idk what should go there then.

you can still manually enter the information from your W-2... the control number is just to automatically download your W-2 from where your employer and the IRS linked - neither of my W2s even had control numbers

leave control number blank for e-filing it's not needed
