For 1095-A purposes for married filing jointly, who is the primary policy holder and who is the spouse?

Prior to us getting married, my husband was covered under an ACA Marketplace insurance plan for 3 months. I am filing our taxes jointly and was not covered under the ACA plan (I have coverage through an employer, my husband joined my policy when we married). I am filling out the 1095-A section and it is asking who the primary policy holder was (taxpayer or spouse). Since I am filling the return out, should I say spouse?

It depends on how you filled out "My Info" in TurboTax Online.

Here is how to check:

1. On the left of the Screen, under 2024 Taxes, select "My Info"

2. In Personal profile, under Your info, there will be one of your names.  This person is the "taypayer".  Then, the spouse will be listed under a separate section under "Your household"

In summary, if your husband's name is in "Your Info", he is the taxpayer for the purpose of the answering who the policyholder is under the ACA plan, otherwise list him as spouse.
