Filing "married-filing jointly" vs. "married - filing separately"?

My husband and I normally file "married-filing jointly", but we have noticed we aren't eligible for a number of credits and deductions because of income limits. My husband accounts for 90% of our income. Is it possible that we could have a smaller tax bill by filing as "married - filing separately"?

It really depends on your state return. Some states make it more advantageous to file separately however you will need to test it.

Both of the links above will provide some decision making ideas about testing and finally deciding the best filing status for you. TurboTax give the details about how to know for sure by creating different returns.
