TurboTax closed e-filing of a 2022 tax return after October, 2023.

A 2022 tax return can only be printed and mailed using TurboTax, it cannot be e-filed.

Thank you for your quick reply!  That is exactly what the software said and the person that told me to Efile was a customer service rep with IRS.  Thanks again!

Please help me understand e-filing windows. Intuit is providing conflicting information, and I have need to e-file immediately my 2022 and 2023 forms. If not TurboTax, then how? Thank you for any help!

Can I e-file prior-year individual returns?

Yes. You can generally e-file the currently due tax year and two prior years, except during an IRS closure.

  • Tax year 2022 and 2023 individual returns will not be able to be e-filed during the shut down but will resume on January 27, 2025.

@Bertman A tax year 2022 and 2023 return can only be printed and mailed using TurboTax, they cannot be e-filed using the TurboTax personal edition software.

In the File section of the program you need to indicate File by Mail, and Not E-file.

Use a separate envelope when mailing multiple tax years.
