Filed extension with IRS and made $1500 online payment as precaution. Not sure how to get that payment to reflect on either return for 2016 or 2017.

If you filed an extension for tax year 2016, enter the amount as follows:

  • Federal Taxes (with Self employed version, Personal)
  • Deductions and Credits
  • Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid
  • Scroll down to Payments with Extension.
