ALL FIXED - deleted the entire 1099 and then re-entered everything manually again.   Now it works.

One reason this may be an error is that the P.O. Box listed on the 1099 is not the same as what is listed in TurboTax. Please verify that you've entered the correct state from the TurboTax drop down menu.

I'm sorry THIS IS A BUG.    I've been using this same Fidelity address for decades and Turbo Tax for 35+ years. It's NOT my state ZIP or ADDRESS it's Fidelity's.    I cant change that as the instructions say enter what is on the 1099R.

The payer is FIDELITY with this address:
[PII Removed]

No matter what I enter it yields an error.   They should fix this.

Were you trying to import the form or manually entering the form when this happened?

Thank you for your feedback on this issue. I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed.

You can send one to us by following the directions below:

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign into your online account.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

You can forget this.   There are two addresses - I typed the wrong one

Well now I have the right address and the zipcode - and it in there. I deleted the 1099 - then re-entered the new one.   Saved the file. and then reopened.  It still has the old PO Box one from a state out west.  I cant say whichg because this editor freaks out if I put a number in

possibly could just have deleted the address.  that info is not sent in for most 1099's. if you left the address completely blank, Ill bet you could have e-filed. one known exception address needed for 1099-R

I tried deleting just the text but it still had issues - didn't like the blank fields.

So which address should be used?  The PO Box on the form from Fidelity OR the physical address that imported into the form?  Thanks.

If you are importing the address form Fidelity, you can use that imported address. If you entered in it manually, use the one on the paper form.

Honestly, the entire address is not verified in the program, just the zip code and state. Also, the IRS doesn't receive the address with the e-file, they just match the EIN.
