The smart check for the federal taxes section of TurboTax is complaining about a missing field in Schedule 8812 which is "Additional Child Tax Credit". I don't have any children or dependents. Why is TT including this form in my return at all? Is it required?
TurboTax has to ask because, even though you have no children or dependents on your tax return, you might have received advance Child Tax Credit payments. When the error comes up, just enter zero for the advance payments you received. That will eliminate the error.

Thanks, I'll do that.
I wish it would simply ask you the question over the natural course of the Q&A and then fill in the values for you, rather than throwing up a confusing error at the very end.
It's only for this year, and TurboTax had to implement it in a rush. The IRS didn't finalize the form and instructions until January. So there was no time for careful design.
I have no dependent children..why fill out Schedule 8812?
You do not need to file form 8812 if you have no children. Delete the form by going to tax tools>tools>delete a form>delete form 8812.

I have no children but Turbo Tax asks about schedule 8812 and letter 6419. I am single, no children. I am unable to move past these corrections. Adding 0 does not help.
On my return i did not check dependent i saw that on my return . It needed to be taken off .
