Federal return rejected because of Form 2210 Turbotax Software Bug!

My Federal Return is rejected by Turbotax, and I believe it is because of Form 2210 Turbotax Software Bug!. Please see attached screen shot below. Also Error Check did not specific any errors.

Reason for Rejection: "F2210-003 - If Form 2210, Part II, Line A checkbox 'WaiverOfEntirePenaltyInd' is checked, then [WaiverExplanationStatement] must be attached to Form 2210"

But the above message is wrong. Clearly Part II Section A has the Waiver Explanation Statement as "85% Waiver"

Frustrating why turbotax is not testing this before releasing! Ridiculous! This is the third issue i am facing.

We should ask for refund of the money paid for turbotax. It is ridiculous to have so many bugs.

Me too!  Not happy.

I did what was suggested by clicking the Explain button under box B of Part 2.  I wrote "85% waiver" as the explanation and transmitted the return again.  I received the same rejection.  My list of forms shows the explanation under Form 2210.  I guess I will have to wait for TT to fix this.

Both Box A and Box D are checked on my return.  Both of them result in no underpayment penalty.  However, I cannot uncheck either one.  I do not know if having both boxes checked is causing the return to be rejected.  Help TT.

Same issue here.  In a related post from aloksukhwani, TT claims they will have it fixed on 2/22.

See if any of these steps will help:

1) Open your return - Click on Federal - Click on Other Tax Situations - Under Additional Tax Payments choose Underpayment Penalties - Answer the on-screen questions related to Underpayment Penalties. If you waive part of the penalty be sure to enter an explanation. If you there is no penalty, write in: "There is no penalty to be calculated".

2) When you get to the screen that says Possible Penalty Exceptions (It doesn't show up for all situations, so you might not actually see that, and therefore, this option will not apply to you), say No and on the next screen enter 2017 tax liability as zero.

3) Print and mail your return.

I have a refund, why should I fill-up Underpayment section. Doesn't make sense

Agreed. You shouldn't. But this issue requires a fix. And while we are waiting for the fix, the above steps work for some. Another solution that also worked for some was deleting transfer from prior 2017 and redoing the return. Meaning, clear and start over. It's a fairly drastic step and I wouldn't recommend it myself. The fix should be coming out. Just not sure on the date yet.

This is ridiculous, TT needs to issue a statement about a fix  NOW

Why should I have to file by mail if I paid for filing online for both state + federal! I want my money back if I have to file by mail, this is such a hassle!

Yes!  I've spent a lot of time trying to figure this out, TT could of at least refunded our money AND informed of the this disaster.

TT you shot yourself in the foot with this online version. My return has been rejected 3 times with no way to fix the 2210 bug. We need a refund or update the site immediately so we can e-file.

My federal return was just rejected for this error.  I re-submitted.  This year I owed money, which I noticed the government already deduced.  Are they going to take the money out of my checking again?

Issue:  "If Form 2210, Part II, Line A checkbox 'WaiverOfEntirePenalty' is checked, the [waiverexplanationstatement] must be attached to Form 2210". Is this a TurboTax issue?

I had this problem too, but after speaking with one of the Intuit representatives we found a "work around" to get our return re-filed and accepted on 2nd attempt.  I don't know why Form 2210 (Penalty Calculation for Not Paying Enough during the tax year) is loading when you have a refund (state too), but apparently it is on some returns.

The first thing we tried was to delete Form 2210, save the return, and close the Turbo Tax program.  When I re-opened Turbo Tax I looked at the Forms menu and to my surprise Form 2210 was back and did NOT go away.  In addition, there were no red exclamation errors noted.  IMO there should be an error noted if the return is going to reject, but...….

So, I tried to un-check the box on Form 2210 Part II Line A, but it would not un-check.

Here's how to fix the problem without waiting for a software update (if there is one).

1. Use "override" on the check box and  un-check the box on Form 2210 Part II Line A.

2. Save your return.

3. Close Turbo Tax program.

4. Re-open Turbo Tax and your return.

5. Check the Forms menu and Form 2210 should be gone and no red exclamation errors noted.

6, Re-file your return.

My Federal return was accepted within an hour.

Hope this technique works for you.

I went in and added a comment to Form 2210 stating TTax is screwed up and I don't owe a penalty.  We will see if it gets rejected a 3rd time or goes through.
