Federal Refund/Due isn't updating based on 8615 Form

I am trying to complete my daughter's taxes and during the error check, Turbotax prompted me to provide some additional information in an 8615 form.  After inputting the requested information; parent's name, social, filing status, & taxable income, it progressed saying no more errors found.  However, the federal refund at the top didn't change. It is still showing $0, but the final line on the 8615 for shows $1695, which I thought means that much would be owed.

Is it not updating correctly or am I misunderstanding the form?

The most accurate way to see what your numbers are is by viewing  your tax forms before filing:

  1. Open your return
  2. Select Tax Tools from the menu
  3. With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then:
    • Preview your entire return:
      • Select Print Center and then Print, save or preview this year's return (you may be asked to register or pay first).
    • View only your 1040 form:
      •  Select Tools. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu.

The balance, if there's one, will show in the return preview.
