F8949 Copy 2 Needed, But cannot create

I have two transactions, one LT and one ST that were not reported to the IRS according to the broker F1099.

The F1099 states that the ST transaction needs to be reported on F8949 in either Part I Box B checked or Part II with Box E checked.

The F1099 also states that the LT transaction needs to be reported on F8949 Part II with Box E checked.

I have manually entered my other 10 transactions on F8949 with either Box A or D checked.

How do I create a 2nd copy of F8949 so that I can enter these Box B and Box D transactions?  Instructions send me back to Schedule D which sends me back to Copy 1 of F8949.

Use step-by-step to add any SELL transactions, regardless of Box Category, which you pick.

You cannot access those forms directly.

If you are using TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop in the step-by-step mode, all you have to do to create an additional Form 8949 page with a different sales type (e.g. Box B) you just a transaction that needs to be reported on that page and the program will create it.  If you are using TurboTax Desktop and entering directly on Forms,

  • Go to Schedule D
  • At the top of Schedule D, click on the QuickZoom for "Report investment sales on the Form 1099-Worksheet"
  • On Form 1099-B Workshet click on the "QuickZoom" in the middle of the page for "Use the Capital Asset Worksheet to enter individual sales"
  • Enter your transaction and then close the form.
  • You will now have a Form 8949 with the category you just entered on the Capital Asset Worksheet
