Extension rejected. Sent a payment with the ext. via direct debit, now TT says we have a refund because it's including that. How to remove that payment from our return??

We attempted to file an extension yesterday, which was rejected at 2:00 a.m. With our extension (Easy Extension), we attempted to make a payment for $24 over what we owe (a nice round number). Now when I go back into my return, it says we are owed a refund of $24 because it is calculating that payment towards our taxes paid. From my understanding, since the extension was rejected, this payment did not/will not go through. How do we remove that (failed) payment from our return?

You have until April 20th to correct the errors on the return and re-file your extension.  If you no longer wish to file an extension, you can delete the extension (Form 4868) so that the return no longer reflects the payment,  by using the following instructions. https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3288508
