Entering gambling winnings

I have been trying for eight days to complete my taxes.  As soon as I hit "Get Started"  to enter gambling winnings, the program goes into a death spiral and will not bring up the next piece of the program.  If I back out of the program or leave the program, when I sign in the next time and hit "Pick up where you left off" the same thing happens.  How can i get into the Gambling Winnings entries?

Sounds like you're stuck in a loop.  Sign out of your account and clear your browser's cache and cookies, then sign back in. Or, try using a different browser to continue with your tax return.

The gambling winnings should be reported on a W2-G.

Here's where you enter Form W-2G (Certain Gambling Winnings) in TurboTax:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax, if you aren't already in it.
  2. Search for W2G (lower-case also works) and select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer Yes on the Did you win money or prizes from gambling or lotteries during 2020? screen and follow the instructions to enter your W-2G.

After you've finished entering all of your gambling winnings, we'll ask about any losses you may have had. Losses can be deducted up to the amount you reported winning, but only if you itemize.
