Enter bank information even if no refund or payment is do

I do not owe taxes or have a refund (I live and work overseas ). I understand that to get a stimulus payment, if there is one, the IRS should have my bank information.  That field in Turbo Tax is X and it canon be overridden.

Is there a US mailing address you can use on your return? One of a friend or family member? That should let you enter banking information if you have a US account.

Thank you but I am asking about how to supply to the IRS my USA bank information to be used to direct deposit my stimulus payment when and if there is one.

When completing the tax return, bank account information is entered. This would be the time to enter the US bank details.

This is the best place to update the bank account information for the IRS without calling the IRS at 800-829-1040

For more information about the stimulus, see: How do I claim the Recovery Rebate Credit?

To find this area in TurboTax, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the search box and enter stimulus. Click the Jump to link.
  2. Answer Yes.
  3. At the next screen, Let's double-check the amount you received, answer No to edit the first-round and second-round amounts.
  4. If no stimulus amount was received, enter 0. An amount should be entered in each box. When finished, click Continue.

Thank you. But when I get in the 1040 form the fields are x out and I do not see where else to enter it. If I hit on the glass it brings back to the same area.

You are correct, there is not a way to change it at the worksheet. Return to the Step-by-Step and work through the rest of your return. When you are at the Payment section, this information can be updated.
