Enter 1099-Misc with no Schedule C

I have 1099-MISC from Book Sales.

I do not want to do a Schedule C - I have no business expenses.

The book sells from Amazon

As soon as I enter the 1099-MISC ; TT wants to do a Schedule C and I don't want/need to.

How do I enter the 1099-MISC without being forced to do a Schedule C??

If you are selling books on Amazon then it would appear that you are in the business of selling books.  In which case you will have to use Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business even if you do not have expenses.  Generally, you should receive a Form 1099-K from Amazon reporting your gross sales and not Form 1099-MISC.

I get a 1099-MISC from Amazon and LULU.
They print and sell the books. I wrote the book.
They do not send me 1099-K's, I have the 1099-MISC forms in my possession.
Thank anyway - I think I figured out that I need to pay the self-employment tax, thus the Schedule C is mandated even with no business expense to deduct. It's passive income at this point.

Your 1099-Misc forms report the royalties you received. You should have box 2 filled with the payment amount.

Enter your 1099-Misc in the Other Common Income section to avoid treating it as self-employment income:

  1. Open or continue with your return
  2. Click on Show more next to Other Common Income under Income & Expenses section
  3. Click on Start/Revisit next to Form 1099-MISC
  4. Follow the prompts to enter your 1099-MISC forms here.

Royalties will be reported on Schedule E of Form 1040.
