EAd with SSN in process what to write in spouse SSN field in extention form

We chose option in EAD to get SSN with it. Now it's been 6 months and we are waiting for her Ead with SSN. I want to file married filing jointly. While filing for extention what should I write in spouse SSN field while we are waiting for her EAD and SSN to arrive. Can we write "Applied For" in Spouse SSN field.

Yes, the instructions for Form 4868 say to write "To be requested" in your spouse's SSN box.

"Applied for" to be written in spouse SSN field because we have already applied for it through EAD?

It was not for ITIN ( mentioning here just to clear confusion if any)

Yes, I understand that you are not applying for an ITIN.  it should be fine to write "Applied for" in her SSN box if you want. Since it is a paper form and it is a hand-written entry, it will work the same. It will be looked at by someone.
