IRS Form 1040-SR is exactly the same as the Form 1040 only with larger type.  It is available for those taxpayers who are age 65 or older.

Itemized deductions are available in the TurboTax program in the Deductions & Credits section across all editions of TurboTax, online or desktop.

When you print it will print on the 1040SR even if you see only the 1040 on the screen.  You automatically get the 1040SR if you or your spouse is 65 or older.  In the Desktop program you can tell it which one to print.

How can you tell turbotax to use 1040SR. Do I have to itemize to use 1040SR?

@2menRfaT If you are 65 or older your tax return will print out on a 1040SR.  When you "preview" it, you will see the Form 1040.  The 1040 and 1040SR are identical.  All the lines are the same; all the calculations are the same.  You do not have to itemize to use 1040SR.  The difference between the two forms is the size of the print.  The 1040SR uses an extra piece of paper if you print it.

If the date of birth you entered in the My Info/Personal Info section shows that you are age 65 or older, the program automatically will use the Form 1040-SR

Note - the Form 1040 and the Form 1040-SR are exactly the same.  The only difference is the printed Form 1040-SR has larger type.

How do you tell TT to use the standard Form 1040?
I really dislike the sprawl of 1040-SR.

If you are using the Desktop program and look at it in Forms Mode it shows the 1040 but if you print it out it will be the 1040SR. There is a way to force the one you want. You can turn off the 1040 SR and save it as the regular 1040 form. Switch to Forms Mode and open the Info Wks. Scroll down to Part II Address and Federal Filing Status. There is Print Form 1040-SR instead of Form 1040 - Yes or No.

If you really want to use the regular 1040 in the Online version, you can print your return and copy the amounts into a blank 1040 (link below) from the 1040SR.
