I found this in another post here in the forum. Let me know if you are successful. Thanks!
The IRS Customer Service hotline (800-829-1040) is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and the best time to call is first thing in the morning as soon as they open.
When you call the IRS, you will be guided through an automated message system before a real, live agent picks up the phone to deal with your inquiry.
- First, you will be asked to select your language.
- Once you’ve selected your language, do NOT choose Option 1 (regarding refund information). Choose Option 2 for “Personal Income Tax”.
- Next, press 1 for “Form, tax history or payment”.
- Then press 3 “For all other questions.”
- Then press 2 “For all other questions.”
- When the system asks you to enter your Social Security Number (SSN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN) to access your account information, do NOT enter anything.
- You will be asked twice, do nothing, you will then be given another menu.
- Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
- Finally, press 4 for all other inquiries. The system will then put you through to a real, live, human agent. 😉
