DO YOU STILL GET INTEREST IF YOU FILE AFTER JULY 15TH?

IT WAS REPORTED THAT PEOPLE WHO FILE AFTER APRIL 15TH, CAN GET INTEREST AS HIGH AS 5% IN ADDITION TO THEIR REFUND.

FOR MYSELF PERSONALLY, MY TAX GUY HAD EVERY REASON IN THE BOOK WHY HE COULDNT FINISH MY TAXES, BUT PROMISED ME THEY WOULD BE COMPLETED BY JULY 17TH.

I AM WONDERING, WILL THAT COMPLETELY SHUT ME OFF FROM GETTING THE INTEREST THAT THE IRS WAS OFFERING PEOPLE, OR WOULD I GET 3% INTEREST INSTEAD, WHICH IS BETTER THAN NOTHING?

You will only get interest if the IRS takes more than 45 days to process your return after you file.  The clock for interest begins, generally, when file the return.  Filing on the 17th if an extension has been filed still allows for your return to be considered "timely filed."
