Do I still have to pay back my tax credit through the ACA if most of my income was earned while I had insurance through my company?

When I input my data from my 1095-A It states that I have to payback the credit. I earned most of my qualifying income when I was no longer participating in the ACA. Do I have to pay back the credit?

Unfortunately, yes you do.  The calculations used for determining the amount of allowable PTC (Premium Tax Credit) are based on yearly income.  The law is blind to the circumstance of what was your income at the time you were receiving the credits and works under the presumption that you were receiving an equally distributed amount of income throughout the year.  Of course, your situation wasn't like this at all, but doesn't change how the law is applied.
