I held a stock that I purchased through an employee purchase plan. That stock grew in value. in 2019, the company filed a plan of liquidation and dissolution, so the stock was liquidated. When I try to import the "cash liquidation distribution" from my broker, it does not show up in my version of TT Deluxe. Do I need to upgrade to Premier to handle this?
I need to make sure that I'm not paying taxes on the cost portion of the stock, but on my brokerage statement, the liquidation appears as a distribution, without reflecting the cost to purchase the stock.
If I do need to upgrade to TT Premier, how do I do that from the software? I do not see an upgrade option.
When using the CD/download product installed on your computer, you do not need to upgrade because all versions have the same forms. You were given that answer 2 weeks ago.
If you need more assistance for how to handle an investment transaction, Premier might provide more assistance but I don't know that for sure.
Here is how to upgrade: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/upgrading/help/how-do-i-upgrade-my-turbotax-for-windows-software/00/26238
