Do I need to mail in copies of my W-2's with tax return?

I am filing by mail for the first time and I see that the instructions say to mail in your W-2 along with the return. I recently moved but had filled out the paperwork prior to moving and now I cannot locate my W-2, and am not sure how quickly my previous employers will get me a copy as they can be difficult to work with.

Am I required to send in my W-2 along with the return?

Yes you are required to mail copies of your W-2s along with your mailed tax return.

Why are you not efiling your return? The IRS strongly prefers it and it will be processed much faster than a mailed return. You don't need copies of your W-2 when you efile your return.

Thank you for the quick response.

I am filing married for the first time. I much prefer e-file, that's what I have always done.

We have submitted and been rejected twice. The 2019 return requests your spouses 2018 AGI. I have her turbo tax transcript from last year that lists her 2018 but it keeps getting rejected saying that it doesn't match what the IRS has on record and with the deadline in 2 days, I'm stumped.

Try entering the number 0 in place of the 2018 AGI that is being rejected.

That's a good suggestion from Texas Roger.

NOTE: supply the 2018 AGI for the primary taxpayer (I assume that is you but it could be either one of you), and 0 for the other taxpayer.
