Do I need the 2023 version to load and file for 2024? I still have the tax files from 2023, but my HD crashed and the program was lost. I still have the 2023 CD.

You need the .tax2023 file. The file was not stored on your CD. It is only stored on your own hard drive or any back up device you used like a flash drive.
