Do I have to file itemized if filing married and separate from my husband if he has to file itemized? I went through the steps and it keeps telling me the best is standar

When you file separately, if one of you itemizes, then both of you have to itemize even if one of you has nothing to itemize, the standard deduction is zero in that case. That is only one of the many penalties that go along with filing married filing separately.
