Do I get a tax break for parking for work?

Yes, you can get a tax break for parking fees and tolls when you have business usage of your car for work. That deduction is in addition to the standard mileage rate that you may use. 

Please note, however, that business usage of the car does not include commuting.  If you pay parking fees as part your commuting, they are considered personal and are not tax deductible. 

And - you must itemize your deductions in order to even see a tax benefit. If you don't, the deduction is lost.

Here is data entry:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions & Credits (you may have to select See all tax breaks)
  3. Employment Expenses
  4. Job-Expenses for W2 Income
