When I open turbotax all I get is code. The screen says it cannot be opened because of a problem.

I've used turbotax for several years and have never encountered a problem before.

My MC operating system is Yosemite 10.10.5.

If you are using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions for 2019, the minimum OS for a Mac is -

2019: macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later

TurboTax support FAQ - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/system-requirements/help/minimum-system-requirements-for-turbotax-mac-software/01/25609

If you cannot upgrade your OS then request a refund for the software purchased from TurboTax -

Go to this TurboTax website to request a refund for the software purchased from TurboTax - https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/forms/refund-request.jsp

You can use one of the TurboTax online editions - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/
