Did I enter something wrong in my 1098-T? It keeps saying I have an error but everything matches thats on my form

Read the error message carefully and review tuition expense worksheet again.

Sometimes an extra space or unknown character can be mistakenly entered when you are completing the information on the screen.  When that happens, TurboTax may not act normally and allow you to continue the process.

 

This is especially true if you use the copy/paste function to enter the data from your Form 1098-T.  If you cannot clear the error by re-typing the information you have entered, you should try deleting the Form 1098-T and start again.  

 

Go directly back to the Education section of your return, using these steps:

• On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
• This opens a box where you can type in “education” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
• The search results will give you an option to “Jump to education”
• Click on the blue “Jump to education” link

 

Then, to delete the Form 1098-T,  go through the entire education expenses section of your return until you reach the screen titled “Your Education Expenses Summary”, and follow these steps:

• Click Edit next to the student name.
• On the screen titled “Here’s your Education Summary”, click Delete beside the name of your school under Tuition.
• Re-enter the information from your Form 1098-T.
