When iTurboTax asks me "Did either of you make money in any other states?" I select yes, because I received a W2 from Insperity PEO with an address in Texas. But then Turbo Tax says in a note in this section: "If you made money in Alaska, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington or Wyoming, leave your answer as Select a state. That's because you don't pay income tax in these states." So in the dropdown I select "Select a state" and hit "Continue". But then TurboTax keeps asking me to review this section when I try to move forward. So I'm not sure what to do here. Should I just select "No, we didn't make money in any other states."??? Should I select Yes and then select Texas??? The instructions seem to be contradictory.
Did you actually WORK in Texas? Or did you say you received income from TX because they mailed the check from Texas? You made money in Texas if you worked in Texas.
I live in Ohio. The company I work for is in Florida, but they use Insperity PEO services and the W2 has Insperity's EIN and address, which is Texas.
I work remotely from my home office in Ohio, only flying into Florida occasionally for meetings, and never flying into Texas.
@Jay-Man Okay then it was a mistake for you to say you made money in TX. The fact that they mailed the W-2 from Texas has no bearing. Lots of employers use payroll services in other states. Change the way you answered the question about making money in another state. You did not make money in TX.
Then did I make money in Florida since that's where the company's address is?
