Did anyone else have problems getting their 1095-A form from your insurance company?

We didn't get our 1095-A and it costs us $1000. Let me explain. Because we did not get the 1095-A and turn it into the IRS, healthcare.gov could not process our registration before the deadline. So we had to file for a special situation which forced us to pay the first month out of pocket. Before Trump ruied Obamacare, we never had such a problem. Thank God or whatever you worship that he is out of the office.

If you purchased coverage through the Marketplace and you have not received your Form 1095-A, you should contact the Marketplace from which you received coverage. You should wait to receive your Form 1095-A before filing your taxes. You can – and should - file as soon as you have all the necessary documentation.

Yes; they have until the end of January to get it out to you.   If anyone in your household had a Marketplace plan in 2020, you should get Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace® Statement, by mail no later than mid-February.  It may be available in your HealthCare.gov account as soon as mid-January.

IMPORTANT: You must have your 1095-A before you file.

Don’t file your taxes until you have an accurate 1095-A.

  • Your 1095-A includes information about Marketplace plans anyone in your household had in 2020.
  • It comes from the Marketplace, not the IRS.
  • Keep your 1095-As with your important tax information, like W-2 forms and other records.

How to find your 1095-A online

Note: Your 1095-A may be available in your HealthCare.gov account as early as mid-January, or as late as February 1.

  1. Log in to your HealthCare.gov account.
  2. Under "Your Existing Applications," select your 2020 application — not your 2021 application.
  3. Select “Tax Forms” from the menu on the left.
  4. Download all 1095-As shown on the screen.

Get screen-by-screen directions, with pictures (PDF, 306 KB).

Note: If you can't find your 1095-A in your Marketplace account, contact the Marketplace Call Center.

I have heard that there is a deadline for when my insurance provider must send out my 1095-A. Is this true?

I received a 1095-b & 1095-c for both insurances I carried but for some reason it is saying I can’t file without a 1095-a. I called turbo tax and they said there is no way I can file without it. I’ve contacted the marketplace and they said they do not show a 1095-a for me at all, I’ve contacted both insurances I had this year and they also do not have this for me at all. I’ve tried calling IRS and got nowhere. I’m a single mother who lost her job. This is literally all the money I have left and I can’t get it because the irs is saying I have a 1095-a and I don’t have this nor can I get it from my insurance companies. I’m desperate please I’m begging if anyone can help me find a way to file my taxes because I don’t know what else to do now.

If you have health insurance through your job or you did not purchase your health insurance in the Marketplace, you should not receive a Form 1095-A at all.

If you want to delete a copy of the 1099-a forms you entered into TurboTax or let TurboTax know that you don't have Form 1095-A to enter, follow these steps:

  1. Open your return, type 1095-a in the search box, click on the Jump to 1095-a on top of the search results.
  2. Answer the question on the next two screens.
