did a search and found that the MT 2024 State income tax forms were released on 12/08/24 but I am receiving a message from Turbo Tax saying that they aren't available.

While the forms may be ready on Montana's end, TurboTax then has to integrate that with its program.    The info at the link below shows the Montana forms should be finished with programming/testing at TurboTax and ready for printing/efiling on January 30.

@Kriskovichlacey1   The link I provided above originally had an error in it, and it didn't work correctly.   I've since corrected it.   Sorry for any confusion.

Thank you! I decided to see if FreeTaxUSA had the forms on board yet so I can be done with filing and get my return ASAP. The forms were there and I am done! I've pretty much had it with Turbo Tax anyway. The scammy ways they try to trick you into upgrading and cumbersome system. I was done with everything on FreeTaxUSA in half the time it took me to file the same return. Thank you for responding, hopefully your experience was better than mine.

You're welcome.    If you efiled, the IRS will open up to start processing Federal returns on 1/27/2025.   A few Federal returns are pulled early by the IRS each year for testing purposes, so a few people will hear something before then in regard to whether their efiled return was accepted/rejected.  Good luck.

As of today, January 31, I'm still receiving a message indicating Montana forms are not available. It includes a link that says “notify me when my forms are ready,” which leads to a page prompting me to supply my email address. Then I get a new message: Unable to load messageid No forms or products have been specified. Please close the window and try again. for en_US.

The table below currently shows that the Montana state forms are supposed to become available on February 6, 2025.  Dates in the table are subject to revision.

The Montana State Form seems to be available, but will only allow you to file using the Standard Deduction.  There is no place to change your filing status from Standard to Itemized.  Any suggestions?  Thank you in advance.   Nancy 1500

TurboTax transfers data from your federal return to your state return. Before you begin troubleshooting your state return, go back through your federal return and enter all of your itemized deductions.  Even if you don't itemize on your federal return, those deductions will transfer to your state return.

After you review your federal return, select the State Taxes tab and review the state section. Pay close attention to the information, especially if you have made changes to your federal return. There might be new sections that need to be completed.

How do I change from the standard deduction to itemized (or vice-versa)?
